Friends

As of the time of this writing (Summer 2003) this page is somewhat out of date (old information, broken links, etc). The entire site is now being updated. Hopefully one day (maybe even sometime soon) this page will get it's share of updates as well.

It is always good, that day or night there is someone I can trust. Here is an abbriviated list:

Disclamer:
I spent a lot of time thinking about making this page. Just so, that everybody gets a right spot. And I came to a conclusion, that I don't have friends that are better or more deserving as the others. Therefore, I have no rule for ordering them on a page. This is why, the people below are placed in a completely random order. The order is so random, that when you load this page again, or even press a reload button, it will probably change :).

Claimer:
The page does not show all my friends for various reasons, such as webspace, availability of pictures, my time to put everything up, etc. If you feel that your pic is not the best here, or that you are missing from this page, or you have a link to a homepage, that I can put along with your name drop me a line. We'll work it out :)

Tagir Nigmatulin
I met him in Troy, NY, while studying at RPI. We have graduated one semester apart. Tagir Received a PhD in Engineering Physics, and a semester later I received my Bachelors in Computer Science. Besides being good friends, we have always been hepling each other. Every time Tagir had a trouble with computers, I was the first person to be called. And when I had problems with a car, Tagir was there. It is still that way, except that most of our communications is by e-mail and phone. Tagir now works at General Electric.

Maryana and Natan
Maryana Fishman, I knew her even before she secretly married Natan and changed her last name to Shvartsman (this is a long story, so don't ask). So, Maryanna and Natan Shvartsmans is now the proper way to call the couple. We still call them both "Fishmans" when they are not listening (shhhhhhh). I know them since 1996.

Dima Kushnirskiy aka Spinoza
I met Spinoza long ago on IRC (Internet Relay Chat). This was long before Web-chats and ICQ were available. He is a part of the people I hang out with in New York City. He knows lots of different people, likes woman, computers, physics, phylosophy and more. Spinoza is one of the people who was "involved" in me meeting Luba :).

Misha Krakovskiy

Misha Krakovskiy
Misha is one of the people I met shortly after immigrating to the United States. We shared a desk (figuratively speeking) and quite a few homeworks (literaly speeking) while in the high school. Together with Misha and Borya Solovey we went through one of the toughest classes in Sheepshead Bay High school, and earned some credits for the college. Misha is now studying computer science (a very smart move, after wasting two years on pre-med -- and don't tell me, I have not urged you to go for CS at the beginning). He also works as a web designer. You can see one of his web pages, that he designed for himself (or in other words his homepage) right here!

Eugene Mogilevskiy

Eugene Mogilevskiy aka Donyboy
I have met Eugene the Fall of 1999 in Brooklyn, NY. I have known him since 1994. Mostly electronically, through the internet and by telephone. This did not stop me from completing a half of his coursework in Computer Science :). Eugene lives in Indianopolis, Indiana. His dream is to become a history professor, this is why he studies computer science and plans on going to the law school. See the logic? Me too :).

Dima Kolodochka
Of all people shown on this page, Dima is the one I knew for the longest time! We studied together since the first grade of school, and lived almost across the street. So, we've been together a lot (so did our parents, who had to pick us up from school) :). Together we prepared the homeworks, played on the streets, exploded stuff and more! Now Dima still lives in Kiev, he is studying to be an architect. Now, when the internet became widely accessible even in Kiev, we are able to communicate through e-mail. It's been a long gap in the communications since I left Kiev in 1993... Dima promises, that soon he will have a homepage, so that I could put up a link from here :).

This is Olya Fishman, more widely known as Iola. I know her since 1996 personally, and for slightly longer "electronically". I guess I don't have to explain where I met her :). Iola is one of two people "responsible" for me hooking up with Luba. If interested, you may pay a visit to Iola's homepage. There you will find out everything else about her :)

Yura Shusterman Tanya Shusterman

Yura and Tanya Shustermans
Yura and Tanya are among the people I went to the college with. They are from Saint Petersburgh, Russia, but currently live in Troy, New York still attending Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. They are both pursuing PhD degrees -- Yura in Physics, Tanya in Management. You may visit their homepage to find out more, see some nice pictures (including the full versions of pictures above) and more...

Boris Solovey

Boris Solovey
Borya has been my friend since the high school. We have taken a bunch of classes together, spent lots of time in each other's places together with
Misha Krakovskiy. Then, we went to colleges in different corners of the East Cost. I went to Rensselaer and Borya joined Carnegie Melon. Today we are again living in the same city of New York. I live in Staten Island, and Borya is in Manhattan. The picture above is from the time we were in High School (1995). Now, Borya has some much nicer pics, because he finished the courses of photo modeling, and wants to model somewhere someday! Borya, give me one from your portfolio, and I'll put it up :).

Sergey Zhdanov

Sergey Zhdanov
Sergey is my friend from Kiev. We have met a few years before I left Ukraine in a young programmers club. I guess it explains what his profession and the interests are. We shared a lot of computer experience together, did some hacking, gaming and more. Unlike me, Sergey is a hardware wiz, so I have a lot to learn from him, but who knows, maybe if I was in Kiev now, we could have been at the same level :). Sergey now lives in Kiev, and we are exchanging e-mails with him.
